Role overview

Hands-on leadership role owning the architecture, engineering, administration, integration, security, and governance of database, EDW, and SharePoint platforms.

Primary technical owner for the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Microsoft Fabric, data pipelines, database platforms, SharePoint Online, and Nintex automation.

Leads a small data and SharePoint team while contributing directly to design, development, and operational support.

Data platforms and operations

  • Own EDW and Microsoft Fabric architecture, development, documentation, and modernization; establish scalable data ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption patterns.
  • Design, build, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines; implement data-quality controls, logging, alerting, and recoverability.
  • Administer supported databases, including security, access, performance, capacity, backup/recovery coordination, patching coordination, scheduling, and production support.
  • Lead secure integrations with enterprise applications, identity platforms, Microsoft 365, and vendors.
  • Own SharePoint Online architecture, administration, governance, security, integrations, custom solutions, and lifecycle management.
  • Build and support Nintex workflows and forms; support Power BI platform governance and operational performance.
  • Evaluate governed AI use cases; implement platform security, access controls, auditability, retention, and data protection.
  • Establish monitoring, documentation, support procedures, disaster-recovery readiness, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
  • Develop roadmaps, manage vendors, assess designs, and communicate risks and business impact.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience across data engineering, data warehousing, database administration, enterprise integrations, SharePoint, or related platforms.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory, technical-lead, or player-coach role.
  • Production experience designing and supporting data pipelines, data warehouses, databases, and integrations.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, SQL-based platforms, and Azure or Microsoft Fabric technologies.
  • Experience implementing platform security, access governance, operational controls, documentation, monitoring, and support standards.
  • Experience using or implementing AI-enabled technology and evaluating use cases, limitations, data requirements, and governance.

Technical skills and capabilities

  • Strong data architecture knowledge, including dimensional modeling, warehousing, lakehouse concepts, ETL/ELT, orchestration, metadata, lineage, and data quality.
  • Advanced SQL and practical relational database administration, tuning, security, and support; Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL are preferred.
  • Integration experience with APIs, file interfaces, identity integrations, connectors, authentication, scheduling, error handling, and monitoring.
  • Deep SharePoint Online, ShareGate, Nintex Automation Cloud, and Microsoft 365 integration experience; Power Automate and Power Platform familiarity is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI architecture, gateways, refresh, security, semantic models, performance, deployment, and governance.
  • Practical familiarity with generative AI, copilots, RAG, intelligent document processing, or machine-learning-enabled automation.
  • Ability to lead a technical team, set priorities, coach staff, collaborate across functions, communicate clearly, and diagnose complex data or system failures.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with distribution-focused ERP, Workday, Microsoft Entra ID/Active Directory, SugarCRM, Microsoft 365, and related enterprise applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, ShareGate, Nintex, Power Automate, Power BI governance, Copilot, Azure AI, AI Builder, RAG, or AI-enabled automation.
  • Relevant Microsoft or Nintex certifications are desirable.
  • Knowledge of wholesale distribution data and operations, including customers, products, inventory, pricing, orders, purchasing, finance, and delivery performance.

Success measures

Reliable, secure, supportable data pipelines, databases, integrations, SharePoint solutions, and Nintex workflows.

Clear platform ownership, documentation, monitoring, recoverability, and lifecycle management.

Trusted, traceable enterprise data enables analytics and Power BI without transferring report-development ownership to this role.

Practical roadmaps for Fabric, EDW modernization, SharePoint, automation, and governed AI; stronger team capability and effective stakeholder communication.
