The IT Infrastructure Architect provides architectural oversight and governance across the design, implementation and continual improvement of reusable, scalable and secure IT services.

Architecture and strategy
- Help define and publish IT strategy, principles and standards; govern alignment between technology, business objectives and customer needs.
- Support technology leaders and business management teams in designing and deploying IT services and infrastructure.
- Participate in design authority reviews to ensure proposed solutions are technically appropriate and fit for purpose.
- Develop and maintain architecture principles, standards and design-decision libraries.
- Review existing IT services and infrastructure to identify opportunities for improvement.
Delivery and governance
- Translate business requirements into practical infrastructure designs and proposals; assess current and emerging technologies.
- Work with stakeholders and Business Analysts to define and review functional and non-functional requirements.
- Produce specifications, analysis, documentation and costings; coordinate plans with project teams, technology specialists, contractors and third parties.
- Maintain architectural and design documentation throughout the lifecycle of systems, services and environments.
- Take a cybersecurity-first approach and ensure solutions adhere to relevant FCA, PRA, TCF, data protection and GDPR requirements and applicable best practice.
- Share knowledge and mentor colleagues where appropriate.
Essential qualifications and experience
- Hold at least one of Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert.
- Have experience rearchitecting IT solutions for cloud-native and hybrid platforms.
- Have experience translating user requirements into technical specifications and design criteria.
- Have experience producing and maintaining design documents, standards and IT architecture principles.
Skills and desirable experience
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating conceptual designs into practical solutions.
- Bring strong critical-thinking and analytical skills, a pragmatic and methodical approach, organisation and attention to detail.
- Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator Associate or Teams Administrator Associate certification is advantageous.
- Experience designing an on-premises PBX call-centre migration or customer-service CRM systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics Customer Service and Customer Insights, is desirable.
