IT Application and Automation Engineer

About This Role

The IT Applications and Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing automation solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tax stamps production operations. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, production operation, project management skills and a proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement through automation.

Automation Strategy Development:

Assess current IT processes and identify opportunities for automation.

Develop a comprehensive automation strategy that aligns with organizational goals.

Create and maintain documentation for automation processes, including workflows and user guides.

Implementation of Automation Solutions:

• Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver automation solutions tailored to various departments.
• Test and validate automation processes to ensure reliability and efficiency.

Monitoring and Optimization:

• Continuously monitor automated processes to ensure they are functioning as intended.
• Analyze performance metrics and gather feedback to identify areas for improvement.
• Optimize existing automation workflows for increased efficiency and reduced downtime.
• Utilize monitoring tools and software such as Nagios and Splunk and ticketing tools such as Service Now.
• Conduct L1 and L2 support for any IT automation incidents while coordinating healthy support with global remote support.

Collaboration and Training:

• Work closely with IT teams to integrate automation tools with existing systems and processes.
• Provide training and support to team members on automation tools and best practices.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on automation technologies and methodologies.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of automation processes, including diagrams and flowcharts.
• Generate regular reports on automation performance, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for further development.

Research and Development:

• Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies related to IT automation.
• Evaluate and recommend new automation tools and technologies that could benefit the organization.
• Participate in community forums, webinars, and training sessions to enhance personal and team knowledge.

Educational and Technical Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or electrical engineering; relevant certifications are a plus.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or a related role, with a focus on automation.
• Proven experience In production line/shop floor,
• Experience with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins, PowerShell)

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). · Understanding of Continues improvement and Development processes and tools.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Language Skills

• Written and spoken English is essential.
• Knowledge of Arabic will be an added advantage.
