Role overview

Inventory planning and logistics coordination role in an SME metal fabrication and manufacturing environment.

Own the materials lifecycle, from reorder triggers and safety stock to inbound and outbound logistics.

Employment is full-time; the role location is identified as Al Jarsh Metal Sections Mfg. Co. LLC, UAQ.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement a fit-for-purpose inventory system, including software selection or configuration, manual backup processes, and production-planning integration.
  • Develop part codes and classifications for raw materials, consumables, hardware, and finished goods.
  • Install warehouse racking, zoning, and labelled bin locations; establish Kanban, min/max, or reorder-point controls and 5S practices.
  • Set reorder levels, safety stock, and economic order quantities; monitor stock levels and resolve shortages, excess, and slow-moving items.
  • Maintain inventory records, conduct cycle counts and physical audits, reconcile variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports on variances, stock turns, obsolescence, and coverage days.
  • Generate purchase requisitions, track and expedite purchase orders, assess supplier lead times, and maintain supplier and material registers.
  • Supervise receipt, inspection, and put-away; ensure goods-received note accuracy and timely system updates.
  • Coordinate outbound loading, shipment documents, and carrier or driver scheduling.
  • Maintain safe handling, storage, housekeeping, and health and safety practices.
  • Improve stock flow and documentation, train warehouse and data-entry staff, and provide inventory data to production and procurement.
  • Track and report lean improvement measures and outcomes.

Experience and qualifications

  • Three to five years in inventory planning, logistics, or materials control in manufacturing or fabrication.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing inventory systems or lean processes from scratch in an SME setting.
  • Metal sections, structural steel, or similar industrial materials experience is advantageous.
  • A degree or diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Structural Engineering is strongly preferred.
  • An additional qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations Management is a plus.
  • Practical knowledge of ERP, WMS, or similar inventory software; the source description ends mid-qualification.

Technical skills

  • Inventory software and systems, stock-control models, part coding, and warehouse layout.
  • Lean methods, 5S, stock analysis, cycle counting, procurement coordination, and logistics documentation.
  • Materials include metal sections, plate, profiles, structural steel, and heavy bundles.

Workplace

  • The role is based at a metal sections manufacturing company in UAQ and involves warehouse and factory-floor responsibilities.
