About This Role
Position Summary
The Senior Instrumentation Technician is a key technical expert responsible for overseeing
the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of complex instrumentation and control
systems in Dugas.
This role ensures the integrity and reliability of safety-critical systems,
supports operational excellence, and mentors junior technicians.
• Advanced Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Lead the diagnosis and repair of complex faults in instrumentation systems,
- including DCS, ESD, F&G, and PLCs.
- Supervise and execute preventive and corrective maintenance on field
- instruments (pressure, flow, level, temperature).
Calibration & Quality Assurance
- Ensure precision calibration of instruments in compliance with international
- standards (ISA, IEC).
- Validate loop integrity and perform functional testing during commissioning
- and shutdowns.
Installation & Commissioning
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of new instrumentation systems
- and upgrades.
- Ensure proper integration with control systems and adherence to engineering
- specifications.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain and review technical documentation, calibration records, and
- maintenance logs.
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, company policies, and industry best
- practices.
Team Leadership & Mentoring
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior instrumentation technicians.
- Support competency development and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Technical Support & Optimization
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA), HAZOP studies, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Recommend upgrades and modifications to improve system performance and reliability.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or related engineering field.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance within oil & gas or petrochemical industries.
- Strong knowledge of control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA), fieldbus technologies
- (HART, Foundation Fieldbus), and hazardous area classifications (ATEX, IECEx).
- Proficient in interpreting P& IDs, loop diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Experience with CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) and digital maintenance tools.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
