Instrument/Electrical Technician II

Qualifications:

• Required Skills:
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• General computer and typing skills.
• General knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the field or related area.
• Preferences:
• Formal National Electrical Code Training.
• Electrical Trade School Training.
• Electrical State License.
• Compensation:
• Salary starts at $26.13. Final pay will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Physical Requirements:
• Requires Constant:
• Reaching for, handling, and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
• Coordinating eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
• Standing.
• Seeing and hearing with or without correction.
• Requires Frequent:
• Climbing and maintaining ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level.
• Requires Occasional:
• Lifting up to 25 pounds from ground level, waist level and overhead.
• Carrying up to 25 pounds for 5 yards.
• Bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, and crawling from 1 to 30 minutes at a time.
• Requires the ability to:
• Following set procedures and standards.
• Applying basic mathematical skills.
• Planning work and selecting proper tools.
• Comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures and objects.
• Picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked.
• Following oral and written directions, plans and blueprints.
• Ability to recognize and report safety hazards.
• Work Environment:
• Lab/industrial environment. Clean room/chamber environment. Office environment. Work may be performed at low and/or high elevations, work performed in confined areas. Exposure to various noise levels caused by power tools, machinery, equipment, etc. Other JSC test facility.
• Equipment and Machines:
• Operate push carts for transporting hardware. Use hand/power tools and test instruments for troubleshooting electrical systems and performing repairs. Operate computer workstations and peripheral equipment in support of administrative requirements.
• Attendance:
• Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
• Other Essential Functions:
• Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must be able to effectively interface with facility test team members.
