Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Infrastructure Draftsman role based in Abu Dhabi.
The Infrastructure Draftsman prepares detailed technical drawings and layouts for electrical and civil infrastructure projects, including cable routes, substations, street lighting, and related utilities, based on engineering specifications and design standards.
The role involves updating drawings to reflect design changes, site conditions, and as-built information, and ensuring that all documentation is accurate, clear, and compliant with relevant codes.
The Draftsman collaborates closely with engineers, project managers, and site teams to clarify requirements, resolve design issues, and support project execution.
Daily tasks also include maintaining organized drawing records, coordinating with external stakeholders when needed, and contributing to design reviews and quality checks.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in technical drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar tools) for infrastructure, electrical layouts, and civil works.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards related to substations, cable routing, and utilities.
- Knowledge of infrastructure and electrical design principles, including underground services, street lighting, and substation arrangements.
- Attention to detail in preparing, revising, and checking drawings to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with engineers, site teams, and project managers in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Organizational skills to manage drawing registers, document control, and multiple project deadlines.
- Diploma or technical qualification in drafting, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a draftsman/drafter in infrastructure, utilities, or electrical contracting projects in the Gulf region is an advantage.
- Familiarity with local authority standards and regulations applicable to infrastructure and electrical networks is preferred.
