Lead technology compliance, regulatory risk management, and governance across fintech, Web3, blockchain, digital asset, fund, and payment platforms.
This is a second-line control and governance role working with Engineering, Product, Information Security, Legal, Risk, Finance, AML/KYC, and Compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead IT compliance and technology risk management across regulated platforms; translate UAE regulatory requirements into practical technology controls.
- Support compliance with VARA, DFSA, FSRA, SCA, and UAE Central Bank requirements.
- Oversee Web3, blockchain, crypto wallet, digital asset transaction, and Travel Rule controls; review AML/CFT, sanctions, PEP screening, and transaction monitoring controls.
- Establish and maintain compliance frameworks, policies, risk registers, and audit evidence; embed requirements into the software development and release lifecycle.
- Govern algorithmic and automated trading systems, including risk controls and change management.
- Oversee cybersecurity governance, third-party risk, and technology resilience.
- Support regulatory inspections, audits, licensing, and reporting; work with senior management to remediate and monitor compliance gaps.
Experience and qualifications
- At least 8 years of experience in IT Compliance, Technology Risk, IT Audit, or Governance.
- Experience in crypto exchanges, blockchain, digital assets, fintech, funds/investment platforms, or payment technology.
- Experience across at least two of Virtual Asset Services, Funds/Investment Management, and Payments.
- Strong understanding of Web3, blockchain, crypto wallets, and digital asset transactions.
- Experience embedding compliance controls into software development lifecycles and with regulatory inspections, external audits, or licensing applications.
- Strong knowledge of UAE financial services and virtual asset regulations; experience building compliance/control frameworks from the ground up.
Required certification
- CISA, CRISC, or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor certification is required.
Preferred certification
- CAMS, CISM, CISSP, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer certification is preferred.
