About This Role

Job Function

The industry lead Medical Devises: Healthcare shapes and executes the Medical Devices strategy across Sub-Saharan Africa, aligned to DP World’s Healthcare vertical strategy, go-to-market priorities, and end-to-end (E2E) solutions agenda.

The role drives revenue, margin growth, and profitability by acquiring and onboarding manufacturers and unlocking market opportunities by leveraging DP World’s logistics, distribution, and market access capabilities.

Responsible for Healthcare vertical market development, account-based growth for priority manufacturers and customers (in coordination with relevant Regional and Global stakeholders), and positioning DP World as the partner of choice and a thought leader in Medical Devices within the Healthcare vertical.

Job Context

This role is pivotal to supporting DP World SSA’s Healthcare vertical strategy by advancing the Medical Devices sub-vertical through industry expertise, manufacturer partnership development, and the localization of end-to-end solution capabilities (from manufacturer to point of care/use) across Sub Saharan Africa.

Working through cross-functional delivery teams and in coordination with regional sales and key account management, the role enables scalable market access, drives sustainable revenue and profitability, and strengthens DP World’s positioning as a partner of choice in Medical Devices.

Strategy

  • Define and execute the Medical Devices Health sub-vertical strategy for SSA across private, public, and humanitarian sectors, explicitly aligned to the Healthcare vertical strategy, solution standards, and reporting cadence.
  • Translate DP World Global and Regional Healthcare offers into region-ready Medical Devices plans (priority markets, categories, channels, value propositions, plays).
  • Drive sustainable revenue, margin, and profitability growth in line with regional and global objectives, support vertical-level budgeting, forecasting, and KPI discipline.
  • Partner with commercial solutions and DP World capability leaders to design and evolve E2E solutions for Medical Devices that improve supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction—enabling cross-sell and up-sell across DP World services.
  • Formulate required operational capabilities (“DP World toolbox”) to win and deliver in Medical Devices.
  • Establish and maintain a two-way governance cadence with the Global and Regional Industry Leads to share SSA market intelligence, coordinate cross-border pursuits/references, and influence global roadmaps to unlock SSA opportunities.
  • Build DP World’s reputation as a thought leader in Medical Devices within the Healthcare vertical by contributing to insights, viewpoints, and market intelligence in partnership with the vertical lead (e.g., conference participation, customer roundtables, content inputs).
  • Monitor Medical Devices trends, competitors, and regulatory changes; proactively identify opportunities/risks and recommend strategic actions to healthcare vertical leadership.
  • Represent DP World in relevant forums and partner engagements, supporting consistent Healthcare vertical messaging.

Sales & Client / Partner Management

  • Drive growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities with manufacturers and channel partners, supporting the Healthcare vertical GTM (segmentation, value propositions, plays) through Medical Health-specific execution.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard high-quality Medical Devices manufacturers, build a robust supplier pipeline across essential medicines, vaccines, equipment, consumables, production animal health, and companion Medical Devices.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, partnership frameworks, and long-term supply agreements, optimising margin, risk allocation, payment terms, and contract compliance.
  • Institutionalize account-based growth for priority manufacturer partners and key ecosystem customers in coordination with regional sales and capability sales resources.
  • Participate in customer quarterly business reviews (QBRs) for strategic accounts as required, representing Animal Health performance, pipeline, and solution roadmap.
  • Lead commercial insights, competitor intelligence, and opportunity mapping across SSA to inform category/market prioritisation and drive pipeline quality.

E2E Solutions Enablement

  • Work with relevant stakeholdres to match supplier portfolios with market demand by country. Shape entry strategies (pricing, channel mix, launch roadmaps)
  • Partner with regulatory teams to ensure efficient product registration and compliance across target SSA markets and support supplier capability assessments (GMP, quality documentation, dossiers, packaging/labelling).
  • Ensure tight collaboration and alignment with all stakeholders across the Commercial Function and SSA capabilities to ensure cohesive go-to-market strategies, engagements and delivery.
  • Develop and track KPIs covering supplier onboarding, market penetration, portfolio growth, revenue, margin, profitability, and operational performance.
  • Maintain rigorous dashboards and reporting to inform leadership decisions; align reporting structures to Healthcare vertical standards.
  • Establish a clear governance cadence (planning, pipeline, reviews) to maintain cross-functional accountability and execution discipline.

  • Promote and demonstrate behaviors aligned with DP World values and culture; ensure safety standards are applied in all activities.
  • Understand and adhere to DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Minimum 8 - 10 years of commercial or business development experience within Medical Devices & Diagnostics, Pharmaceuticals, or broader Healthcare/ Life Sciences sectors.
  • Deep understanding of the Medical Devices ecosystems across Africa—including production and companion diagnostics markets.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and profitability within an industry vertical
  • Strong experience in supplier partnerships, regulatory environments, and distribution models in emerging markets.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex, multi-country business environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with cross‑functional teams.
