Duties

• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain chillers; diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, check refrigerant levels, and calibrate controls and safety devices.
• Coordinate with facility teams, document work, follow safety and environmental requirements, and support upgrades and retrofits.
• Respond to service calls, prioritize work orders, and track parts, tools, and equipment.
• Perform installation, testing, and commissioning, including integration with plant monitoring systems.
• Work independently and cover emergency or after-hours breakdown calls as part of an on-call or holiday rotation.

Experience and Qualifications

• Full-time diploma in Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning from a recognized institute; the description also lists a technical diploma or certification in HVAC, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• More than five years of hands-on experience maintaining industrial HVAC systems.
• Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, fertilizer, process plant, or a similar hazardous industrial environment is strongly required.
• English proficiency for reading, speaking, technical communication, and report writing.
• Previous chiller maintenance in commercial or industrial facilities is preferred.

Mandatory Technical Requirements

• Strong ability to identify HVAC components, piping routes, airflow arrangements, and systems from mechanical layout drawings and schematics.
• Strong ability to read industrial HVAC and chiller electrical wiring diagrams, control schematics, and equipment drawings.
• Ability to trace circuits, identify components, understand operating sequences, and diagnose faults through control logic.
• Hands-on ability to safely troubleshoot live 415V control circuits on large chillers and air-conditioning systems.
• Experience troubleshooting HVAC or chiller control circuits interfacing with PLCs and plant monitoring systems.
• Industrial HVAC troubleshooting, repair or component replacement, and restoration of system function and efficiency.
• Practical knowledge of industrial chillers, air-conditioning units, controls, sensors, relays, contactors, protection devices, actuators, and motors.
• Knowledge of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, refrigeration cycles, fluid mechanics, hazardous-area pressurization, and filtration systems.
• Experience with installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and plant monitoring integration; welding and soldering experience relevant to HVAC maintenance.

Work Practices and HSEQ

• Work independently with limited supervision and respond to emergency or after-hours breakdowns as part of an on-call or holiday rotation.
• Work safely in extreme weather and industrial plant environments; participate in toolbox meetings before work activities.
• Prepare maintenance and progress reports using Microsoft Office.
• Know hazardous-area classifications, hazardous chemicals, pressurized gas cylinders, emergency actions, safe material handling, and work permit and clearance systems.

Selection Assessment

• Candidates must score at least 70 percent on the written HVAC examination to proceed to interview and selection.
• Candidates must demonstrate mechanical drawing and electrical wiring diagram interpretation in the technical interview and practical evaluation.
• Candidates unable to identify drawing components, trace circuits, or explain control logic to the required level will not be selected.
