Role summary:

The HSE Specialist

is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) protocols across all company sites.

This role is crucial in fostering a safe, secure, and environmentally compliant working environment, aligned with regulatory standards and the organization’s internal policies.

The specialist will be dedicated to promoting and maintaining robust health, safety, security, and environmental practices across all operational levels of the company.

Occupational Health & Safety

  • Assist in creating, executing, and monitoring Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies, ensuring adherence across all company locations and compliance with local regulations.
  • Conduct OHS inductions and training, perform risk assessments, and implement preventive measures to enhance workplace safety.
  • Collaborate in investigating workplace incidents, recommending corrective actions, and tracking health conditions of affected personnel, particularly during health crises.
  • Oversee risk assessments, work permits, Toolbox Talks (TBT), and organize emergency drills to ensure compliance with fire safety and other emergency protocols.
  • Maintain accurate OHS records, liaise with external agencies, and monitor the availability of Personal Protective Equipment and safety resources.

Supporting HSE Strategy

  • Assist in the formulation and execution of the overall HSE strategy.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for enhancing HSE practices.
  • Ensure full compliance with established HSSE standards.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies to stay updated on compliance requirements.

Operational Security

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of security protocols to safeguard company facilities.
  • Ensure adherence to security measures such as surveillance, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Review and manage CCTV footage and document incidents related to security.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of security equipment and personnel.
  • Perform security risk assessments and enforce preventive measures.
  • Ensure compliance with security regulations across all company sites.

Environmental Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of sustainable practices throughout company operations.
  • Promote initiatives to reduce the organization’s environmental impact, including waste reduction and recycling.
  • Advocate for water conservation practices across all company locations.

Training & Development

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of HSE training programs.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of best practices in occupational health and safety.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of emergency response plans.
  • Participate in drills and simulations to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response systems.
  • ***In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the role may also involve completing other duties or tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.***
  • Role requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, COSHH, or equivalent certifications in health and safety. Additional certifications in emergency response, risk assessment, or environmental management are preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an HSSE role, ideally within a similar industry. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, environmental laws, and security protocols.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance. Ability to lead and conduct training sessions and safety programs.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and reporting software and systems.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and administrative skills. Ability to respond to emergencies, potentially outside of regular working hours.
  • Strong communication skills in Arabic and English (written and spoken). Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
