Responsibilities

  • The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist is responsible and accountable for the timely and accurate release of patient health information, proper documentation and tracking of requests for information and providing personalized customer service to all requestors.

Job Title: HIM SPECIALIST

Location: Meyerland

Department: Medical Records

Job Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $35,996 - $44,466 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Education
  • Required: High School diploma or GED from an accredited program
  • Preferred: N/A
  • Experience
  • Required: 2-3 years’ experience in a medical record department or confidential file room.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Release of Information for medical records.
  • Previous experience dealing with confidential information.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of the Kelsey-Seybold system.
  • 1-2 years in a medical record department’s ROI
  • License(s)
  • Required: N/A
  • Special Skills
  • Required: Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Preferred: 30 wpm typing required
  • Other
  • Required: CRT/PC knowledge/10 key
  • Working Environment: Office
