Role overview

Higher Scientific Officer in the Centre for Target Validation, conducting laboratory-based cell biology research on potential therapeutic targets in cancer.

Research supports target validation, prioritisation and drug-discovery decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Use genetic techniques, including RNAi and CRISPR, targeted protein degradation, tool compounds and molecular biology to generate decision-making data.
  • Contribute to assay development and biomarker discovery for targets progressing to drug discovery.

About you

  • At least a master's-level qualification in cell biology or an aligned subject.
  • Knowledge of cancer biology and experimental approaches to therapeutic target validation in cancer.

Compensation and contract

  • Salary starts at £47,738 per annum; starting point depends on comparable skills and experience.
  • Fixed-term contract for two years; 35 hours per week, full time.

Location

  • The role is based in Sutton.

Research environment

The Centre for Target Validation develops data packages to support drug-discovery project decisions, collaborating with biology, functional genomics, assay sciences, chemistry and bioinformatics teams.

The centre works with the Centre for Protein Degradation and the Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery.
