Prepares and operates hemodialysis machines and related equipment prior to patient treatment Assesses patients before dialysis, including vital signs, weight, and general condition Initiates and monitors hemodialysis treatment according to physician orders and established protocols Performs vascular access care (AV fistula, graft, or catheter) and ensures proper needle insertion technique Monitors patients during dialysis for complications such as hypotension, cramps, or adverse reactions Adjusts dialysis parameters as needed under supervision and within scope of practice Ensures proper administration of anticoagulants and other prescribed medications during treatment Maintains strict infection control and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination Documents treatment details, patient response, and machine settings accurately in medical records Educates patients on dialysis procedures, vascular access care, diet, and fluid restrictions Cleans, disinfects, and maintains dialysis machines and equipment after each session Coordinates with nephrologists and healthcare team regarding patient progress and concerns Responds promptly to emergencies occurring during dialysis sessions Ensures compliance with renal care standards, hospital policies, and safety regulations
