Heavy transport manager

Role purpose

Operational and customer responsibilities

• Plan and control fleet allocation, trips, routes, loading, deliveries, and schedules.
• Manage trucks, trailers, drivers, maintenance, utilisation, and compliance.
• Coordinate regional routes, ports, customs, borders, permits, and transport documentation.
• Manage transport of steel, pipes, machinery, and oversized or overweight cargo.
• Maintain driver discipline, safety, attendance, performance, and operational readiness.
• Handle breakdowns, delays, complaints, and operational emergencies.
• Build relationships with existing and potential customers; conduct customer and site visits.
• Identify business opportunities, support quotations, convert enquiries, and pursue customer opportunities across the UAE.
• Monitor service and customer satisfaction.

Cost, performance, and reporting

• Monitor trip, fuel, fleet, and transport costs and identify efficiency and cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor KPI-driven cost and operational performance.
• Analyse fuel, maintenance, manpower, repair, tyre, and other transport expenses.
• Prepare and review monthly transport cost-management accounts and reports.
• Report operational performance, risks, commercial opportunities, cost variances, and corrective actions to management.

Experience and competencies

• 3–5 years’ experience in heavy transport or fleet operations.
• Strong knowledge of UAE/GCC routes, ports, and border procedures.
• Hands-on experience with heavy trucks, trailers, and industrial cargo.
• Knowledge of permits, customs, and transport documentation.
• Strong client-handling, business-development, fleet, driver, scheduling, KPI, and cost-control skills.
• Knowledge of fuel, vehicle maintenance, and manpower cost analysis.
• Experience preparing and analysing monthly transport cost-management reports.
• Problem-solving, negotiation, and coordination abilities.
• Proficiency in Hindi and English.

Pay

• The description lists monthly pay ranges of AED 12,000–15,000 and AED 11,000–15,000.
