Role overview
A heavy equipment rental company is hiring an officer to monitor fleet operations and readiness, coordinate maintenance, reduce breakdowns and costs, and support safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor equipment operation, allocation, availability, and utilization.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with technicians and external workshops according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Track breakdowns, downtime, repair costs, and fuel consumption.
- Ensure equipment is ready for transport, customer-site delivery, and return.
- Follow up with operators and drivers, distribute tasks, and check required license and permit validity.
- Maintain equipment, operating-hour, maintenance, and spare-parts records and prepare periodic reports.
- Coordinate with sales and rental teams to meet customer needs on schedule.
Qualifications and experience
- Relevant experience in heavy equipment operations and maintenance is sought; rental-sector experience is preferred.
- A diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of excavators, loaders, backhoes, and construction equipment.
Skills
- Coordination, breakdown follow-up, reporting, and cost-control skills.
- Knowledge of fleet management systems and Excel is an added advantage.
Work context
- Work involves equipment readiness for transport and delivery to customer sites, and coordination with external maintenance workshops.
