Qualifications
- Valid Ontario 421A Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate of Qualification.
- Valid Ontario G Class Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with diesel engines, powertrain systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Experience performing major component removal, installation, and repairs.
- Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation.
- Experience using electronic diagnostic software and equipment.
- Knowledge of safe lifting, blocking, rigging, and equipment repair practices.
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment for diagnostic and testing purposes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an equipment maintenance team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, or similar heavy construction equipment.
- Experience with Caterpillar SIS (Service Information System) is considered an asset.
- Experience with Tech Tool diagnostic software is considered an asset.
- Experience working on excavators, loaders, dozers, compactors, cranes, and other large construction equipment.
- Experience with major equipment repairs, component rebuilds, and equipment teardown and assembly.
- Experience with OEM diagnostic software and computerized maintenance/work order systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Rigging and lifting experience.
- Experience working in a construction, heavy civil, equipment rental, or heavy equipment service environment.
- Experience mentoring or assisting apprentices.
- Union Eligibility
- Following the successful completion of the company’s probationary period, employees who are not already enrolled will be eligible to join the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 793, subject to the applicable collective agreement and union requirements.
- Candidates who are already members of IUOE Local 793 are encouraged to apply.
- Hourly rate is between $50-$55
