Job Description

The Healthcare Receptionist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of a healthcare facility.

Acting as the first point of contact for patients, this position involves a dynamic mix of administrative tasks, customer service, and communication skills.

The receptionist is responsible for greeting patients, managing appointments, handling inquiries, and maintaining a welcoming environment.

Excellent organization and efficient coordination are crucial to support the busy schedules of healthcare professionals and deliver optimal patient care.

As the face of the organization, the Healthcare Receptionist must demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and discretion, and possess the ability to handle sensitive information with care.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors with a welcoming demeanor.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments using healthcare management software.
  • Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of patient records and sensitive information.
  • Handle phone inquiries, directing calls to respective departments efficiently.
  • Process billing and collect payments for services rendered promptly.
  • Coordinate with medical staff for patient check-ins and service updates.
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers effectively.
  • Assist in emergency procedures and guide patients accordingly when necessary.
  • Monitor patient flow and liaise with nurses and doctors regarding patient appointments.
  • Prepare and distribute patient-related paperwork and documents as needed.
  • Provide basic administrative support to healthcare staff and management team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education level is required.
  • Prior experience in reception or administrative roles in healthcare settings.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an empathetic approach to patient interaction.
  • Proficiency in healthcare management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
