Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree recognized in the UAE (preferably in Engineering)

• NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction, facilities, oil & gas, or a related field
  • Valid UAE driving license

Preferred (Optional) Qualifications

  • SARS Card (Safety Advisor Registration by TRAKHEES)
  • Accident/Crisis Management certification and relevant experience
  • Risk Assessment certification

Role Description

The Health Safety Environment (HSE) Engineer role at SPAN is a full-time, on-site position based in Dubai.

The HSE Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in alignment with local regulations and company standards.

This role involves conducting risk assessments, site inspections, and safety audits, as well as identifying hazards and recommending corrective and preventive actions.

The HSE Engineer will prepare and maintain documentation such as incident reports, safety statistics, and compliance records for internal and external stakeholders.

Daily responsibilities include coordinating and delivering HSE training, promoting a strong safety culture, supporting incident investigations, and collaborating with engineering, operations, and project teams to integrate HSE requirements into designs and workflows.

The role also requires monitoring contractor compliance, ensuring proper use of PPE, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across SPAN’s facilities and projects.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in Health & Safety and Environment Health and Safety (EHS), including relevant standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Background in Occupational Health and Safety Engineering, with the ability to perform risk assessments, hazard identification, and implement control measures.
  • Experience in designing and delivering HSE Training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions for diverse teams and contractor personnel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field; relevant HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in an HSE role within industrial, logistics, manufacturing, or construction environments, preferably in the Gulf region.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills, with proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with HSE management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Ability to work on-site, perform field inspections in operational environments, and respond promptly to HSE incidents and emergencies.
