Health and Safety Engineer

About This Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Engineer to join our construction team in the UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety protocols to ensure compliance with local and international safety standards, minimizing risks, and promoting a culture of safety across all construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Perform risk assessments and recommend preventive measures to mitigate risks.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with UAE labor laws, environmental laws, and construction safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
• Provide training and guidance to employees on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and proper use of equipment.
• Maintain records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
• Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure project compliance with safety standards.
• Promote a culture of safety awareness among workers, subcontractors, and management.

Requirements:

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in HSE Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 1 or 2 years of experience as a Safety Engineer in the construction industry, preferably in the UAE or GCC region.
• Certifications: NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent safety certifications are mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of UAE labor laws, safety standards, and construction site practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and report writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards.
• Experience with high-rise or large-scale construction projects.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or other regional languages is an advantage.
