Overview
To lead and manage all Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Testing, Certification, and Continuous Improvement activities for the Ductile Iron (DI) Pipe Plant, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, national and international standards, and regulatory requirements while driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Quality Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain the plant Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with standards such as: Bureau of Indian Standards (IS 8329) International Organization for Standardization (ISO 2531) American Water Works Association (AWWA C151/C104) EN standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Establish quality objectives and KPIs aligned with business goals.
Quality Assurance
- Lead process quality assurance across: Melting and metallurgy Centrifugal casting Annealing Zinc coating Bitumen/Epoxy coating Hydrostatic testing Socket and spigot machining Final inspection and dispatch
- Ensure process capability and consistency through statistical quality controls.
Quality Control & Testing
- Oversee laboratory operations and testing facilities.
- Monitor: Chemical analysis Mechanical testing Microstructure evaluation Coating thickness testing Hydrostatic pressure testing Dimensional inspections
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of all testing equipment.
Customer Quality Management
- Handle customer complaints and warranty issues.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Coordinate customer audits and quality reviews.
- Improve customer satisfaction and reduce rejection rates.
Supplier Quality
- Develop supplier quality assurance programs.
- Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations.
- Ensure quality of raw materials including: Pig iron Steel scrap Ferro alloys Coating materials Rubber gaskets
Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Lead reduction of: Internal rejection Customer complaints Process variability Cost of poor quality (COPQ)
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the plant.
Audit & Compliance
- Lead internal and external quality audits.
- Manage ISO certifications and surveillance audits.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety and statutory requirements.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor QA/QC managers, laboratory personnel, inspectors and quality engineers.
- Develop training programs for quality awareness and technical competency.
- Build succession plans for critical quality positions.
