Head of Research And Development

About This Role

Fraser Dove is partnered with a rapidly expanding biopharmaceutical organisation who are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of R&D to lead the evolution of its innovation and product development capabilities.

This is a critical leadership role, responsible for shaping and executing the R&D strategy, building high-performing teams, and driving the development of a competitive and sustainable product pipeline aligned with regional and global healthcare needs.

The Role

You will lead the full R&D function, overseeing formulation development, analytical, regulatory alignment, and lifecycle management. Working closely with executive leadership, you will translate business strategy into a clear and deliverable pipeline.

Key responsibilities include:

• Defining and executing the R&D strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
• Leading product development programmes across generics and differentiated products.
• Building and developing a high-performing R&D organisation.
• Driving innovation, efficiency, and speed to market.
• Ensuring compliance with SFDA and international regulatory standards.
• Collaborating cross-functionally with Commercial, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
• Identifying partnerships, licensing, and external innovation opportunities.

The Candidate

You are an experienced R&D leader with a track record of building and scaling capabilities in dynamic environments.

You will bring:

• Significant experience in pharmaceutical R&D , ideally across generics and/or specialty products.
• Proven leadership in transforming or expanding R&D functions.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks , ideally including emerging markets.
• Experience delivering end-to-end product development.
• A hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate strategically and operationally.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at executive level.

International experience across Europe, the Middle East, or Asia is highly valued.
