About NRG

NRG is an Abu Dhabi–based manufacturer of specialty chemicals for oil & gas well construction — well cementing, drilling fluids, and acidizing & fracturing.

We run our own production in the UAE, blend chemicals and synthesize co-polymers in-house from scratch (“Made in UAE”).

NRG management is based on the principles of Sociocracy 3.0 social technology - transparency, employee engagement, and shared responsibility.

This approach allows for faster decision-making and innovation.

We cooperate on fair and understandable terms, comply with our obligations, and operate in a legal and ethical manner.

So, we have the plant, the chemistry, the team and the market access.

What we do not yet have is a commercial leader who can convert relationships into a durable, profitable, diversified book of business across our fracturing lines.

That is the job.

The Role

We are hiring a Head of Business Development to own sales strategy and growth for our Specialty Oilfield Chemicals lines in the GCC.

This is a build-and-lead role, not a maintenance one.

You will set the strategy, carry the number, strengthen the existing sales team, and act as the technical–commercial bridge between the market and our R&D / production.

You will report directly to the Board and have fast access to the lab.

You are the right person if you think like an operator: you can read the market like an analyst, talk chemistry with a client’s technologist, and build the financial model and value proposition that wins a tender — all three.

What You’ll Own

  • Sales strategy & prioritization. Decide which products and segments within fracturing, cementing, drilling we win first, and why. Turn market contacts into a prioritized, evidence-based pipeline — not scattered conversations. Define the local go-to-market: who buys what, who decides, and how we get qualified.
  • Technical bridge to R&D. Diagnose why a trial failed and translate it into concrete, market-justified development briefs for our chemists. Organize iterative re-testing with clients. You give the lab a real target; the lab gives you a product you can actually sell.
  • Commercial sophistication. Build the financial models, pricing logic, and complex value propositions that move us off near-cost selling. Lead tenders, structure commercial terms, and manage the economics of each deal.
  • Vendor qualification. Drive APL / approved-vendor qualification with OFS companies and operators — the gate without which we do not exist as a supplier to the majors.
  • Client-base diversification. Move us beyond the current 2–3 active clients and away from dependence on a single trader. Build direct, financially solid relationships.
  • Team. Strengthen and mentor the existing sales team; bring the strategic and commercial discipline it currently lacks.

Must Have

  • 8–10+ years in oilfield chemicals or oilfield-services business development / technical sales (e.g. SLB, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, Weatherford, NESR, or a specialty-chemicals supplier).
  • Deep technical fluency in fracturing chemistry — comfortable discussing conditions with a client’s technologists, not just procurement.
  • A track record of converting technical relationships into qualified, repeat contracts in the GCC.
  • Commercial depth: pricing, financial modelling, complex value propositions, tenders, and an understanding of performance bonds.
  • A real network across OFS companies and operators in the region.
  • Working knowledge of vendor qualification / APL processes for new suppliers.
  • Fluent English.

Strong Plus

  • Technical fluency in cementing, stimulation and drilling chemicals
  • Existing relationships within the ADNOC ecosystem, Saudi Aramco, KOC, OQ or similar.
  • Experience launching a new chemical product or qualifying a new supplier from zero.
  • Exposure to unconventional / stimulation programs (e.g. Jafurah-type plays).
  • Arabic; or ties to CIS-market talent and suppliers.

What We Offer

  • Full ownership of a function and a direct growth lever inside a UAE manufacturer with real production and proprietary chemistry.
  • Direct line to the Board and R&D — short decision cycles, no corporate bureaucracy.
  • Compensation: competitive base plus a strong performance-linked component tied to qualified, profitable revenue (structure discussed with serious candidates).
  • The chance to build the commercial engine of the company, not inherit someone else’s.
