Role Description

The Head Chef is a full-time, on-site role based in Doha, Qatar, responsible for leading all kitchen operations at Movement Cafe.

The Head Chef will design and refine menus that align with the cafe’s luxury lounge concept, ensuring dishes are visually appealing, consistently high quality, and aligned with brand standards.

Daily responsibilities include managing food preparation and cooking, overseeing kitchen staff scheduling and performance, and maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness.

The Head Chef will control inventory and food costs, coordinate with suppliers, and ensure efficient use of ingredients.

In addition, the role involves training and mentoring the kitchen team, collaborating with management on seasonal offerings and special events, and responding to guest feedback to improve the culinary experience.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in high-end cafes, lounges, or restaurants, ideally within a premium or lifestyle concept.
  • Strong skills in menu development, food presentation, and recipe standardization, with an eye for detail and brand alignment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen operations, including food safety, hygiene standards, stock control, and cost management.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team supervision, training, scheduling, and performance management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house and management teams to deliver a cohesive guest experience.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
  • Culinary degree or formal culinary training is preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • Experience in the Doha or GCC hospitality market and familiarity with international and regional cuisines are advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
