Role and hardware

Instawork Robotics Labs in Bengaluru develops Instacore, a proprietary wearable capture rig with five cameras and an IMU that records video of people performing real tasks.

The hardware intern helps maintain, improve, and expand a fleet of units used to collect data for Physical AI model training.

The posting identifies the internship as full-time and on-site; deployments and hardware-hub setup extend across India and APAC.

What you will do

  • Build, assemble, test, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems to maintain uptime for the Instacore fleet.
  • Prototype, integrate, and stress-test hardware improvements to the rig, including cameras, IMUs, wiring, mounts, and power systems.
  • Work hands-on with sensors, actuators, controllers, soldering, and 3D printers in the workshop.
  • Travel to set up hardware hubs across India and APAC and deploy equipment in the field.
  • Trace and fix faults through hands-on testing, then document findings to improve fleet reliability.
  • Maintain lab tools, components, test setups, and build documentation.

Candidate requirements

  • Be pursuing or have recently completed a degree or diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Have hands-on experience with IoT systems, cameras, sensors, Raspberry Pi, 3D printing, and soldering.
  • Have working knowledge of motors, sensors, actuators, electronics, mechanical systems, and wiring.
  • Be willing to travel across India and APAC for deployments.
  • Have demonstrated leadership by leading a team or project in a robotics or engineering competition or similar project, with ownership from planning through execution.
  • Have experience building for Robocon, Formula Student/FSAE, BAJA, e-Yantra, or similar competitions, especially a vehicle or robot required to perform on demand.

About the team

Instawork Robotics Labs works on robotics and AI hardware and collaborates with robotics engineers on rapid hardware iterations.

Instawork operates an AI-powered labor marketplace and says it has hubs in San Francisco, Bangalore, and Chicago, with other city offices.

Why the internship is different

  • The role provides exposure to a real hardware fleet, Physical AI data collection, and the hardware lifecycle from workshop builds to field deployments.
  • Interns work with a small team and see hardware ideas move into use.

Application materials

  • The employer invites candidates to share photos, videos, or repositories of competition machines and projects with their application.
