We are hiring a Hands-On Senior WordPress & Full-Stack Technical Lead to work across several live commercial web platforms.
This is a long-term role for someone reliable, technically strong, organised and comfortable taking ownership of existing websites, systems, hosting, fixes, deployments, customer-facing technical issues and technical delivery.
This is not a manager-only role.
You must be hands-on and able to fix, build, test, deploy, document and communicate clearly.
About the role
You will act as the technical contact point between the founder, the development team and customer-facing business needs.
The role covers a group of live business websites and platforms, including WordPress sites, custom web apps, content sites, SEO-focused sites, landing pages, admin panels and customer-facing services.
The right person will be able to take over existing systems, understand what is working, identify what is risky, fix issues properly, organise tasks clearly, support the team, and communicate progress without needing constant chasing.
Main responsibilities
- Maintain, improve and troubleshoot WordPress websites
- Work on full-stack web development tasks across frontend, backend, APIs and databases
- Help manage hosting, deployments, Cloudflare, GitHub and VPS/Coolify-style workflows
- Diagnose and fix live website and platform issues
- Support customer-facing technical issues where needed
- Act as the technical bridge between the founder and the development team
- Translate business priorities into clear technical tasks
- Help plan, assign, track and follow up on development work
- Identify blockers, risks, dependencies and missing information early
- Improve website speed, structure, security and stability
- Support SEO implementation including technical SEO, page structure, metadata, schema and performance
- Review existing code, workflows and systems to identify risks or weak areas
- Document systems, changes, fixes and deployment steps
- Provide clear written updates on what is done, what is blocked and what needs attention
- Help guide junior developers or implementation staff when needed
- Support practical project management across multiple websites and platforms
- Required experience
- You should have strong practical experience with:
- WordPress
- PHP
- Full-stack web development
- MERN stack / React / Node.js
- Hosting, DNS, Cloudflare or similar
- GitHub or similar version control
- Website speed, performance and technical troubleshooting
- SEO-friendly website structure
- Debugging existing websites and inherited codebases
- Working with live customer-facing websites or platforms
- Nice to have
Experience
- with any of the following would be useful:
- Next.js
- Laravel
- Strapi or headless CMS platforms
- Docker / Coolify / VPS deployments
- Server management
- API integrations
- Landing page optimisation
- Technical SEO
- Managing or mentoring junior developers
- Project management or technical coordination
