Global IT Software Engineer Senior Director & Tech Area Lead - Legal

Role overview

Technical leadership

• Define the Legal function's technical operating model, standards, architecture, and delivery direction.
• Lead across contract lifecycle management, conflicts, knowledge management, eDiscovery and litigation support, matter management, insurance, corporate elections, and agentic AI.
• Oversee delivery trade-offs, long-term capability building, platform and vendor selection, SDLC practices, and technology and AI quality metrics.
• Lead chapter leads and specialists across Software Engineering and AI, SaaS Engineering, Quality Assurance, Data, and L2 Operations; manage external vendor relationships where relevant.

Portfolio and alignment

• Create and deliver the Legal portfolio's vision, strategy, and outcomes in partnership with the Legal Portfolio.
• Align key legal platforms and ensure they operate cohesively across the ecosystem.
• Monitor legal technology, agentic AI, and automation trends to identify opportunities.
• Ensure programs and chapter initiatives support risk, compliance, and commercial priorities.
• Collaborate across Legal, Technology, Data, and business functions; align work with enterprise architecture principles.
• Escalate issues spanning teams or systems and support timely resolution.
• Partner with enterprise architecture, data, risk, security, and compliance governance teams to align legal technology with firm-wide standards.
