Role overview

BCG is transforming its legal function through contracts, conflicts, compliance, agentic AI, data, and automation.

The Technical Area Lead for Legal is the firm's foremost technical authority on legal technology and connects legal strategy with technical execution.

The role spans contract lifecycle management, conflict clearance, legal knowledge management, eDiscovery and litigation support, matter allocation and management, insurance, corporate elections, and agentic AI.

Leadership and technical direction

  • Define how the Legal function operates technically and set standards and architecture for building and delivering legal capabilities.
  • Lead legal technology chapter leads and specialists across Software Engineering and AI, SaaS Engineering, Quality Assurance, Data, and L2 Operations.
  • Guide delivery trade-offs, platform and vendor selection, SDLC practices, and technology and AI quality observability and health metrics.
  • Align legal technology platforms and programs with the Legal Portfolio's risk, compliance, and commercial priorities.
  • Monitor emerging legal technology, agentic AI, and automation trends and identify opportunities.
  • Promote collaboration across Legal, Tech, Data, business functions, enterprise architecture, and governance teams.
  • Escalate work spanning multiple teams or systems and support alignment and timely issue resolution.
  • Review portfolio strategy against global priorities, regulatory conditions, and technological change.

Role requirements

  • Deep technical legal-technology expertise and the ability to lead cross-functional transformation.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and turn strategic goals into measurable outcomes.
  • Experience providing technical direction across legal platforms and programs.
  • Ability to lead specialists across software engineering and AI, SaaS engineering, quality assurance, data, and operations.
