Role overview

BCG is transforming legal technology, including contracts, conflicts, compliance, agentic AI, data, and automation.

The Technical Area Lead is the firm's foremost technical authority for legal technology, connecting legal strategy with technical delivery.

Leadership and technical direction

  • Set technical direction, standards, and architecture across legal technology capabilities.
  • Guide delivery trade-offs, platform and vendor selection, SDLC practices, and technology and AI quality metrics.
  • Lead chapter leads and specialists across Software Engineering and AI, SaaS Engineering, Quality Assurance, Data, and L2 Operations.

Portfolio and platform responsibilities

  • Deliver the Legal Portfolio's vision, strategy, and outcomes in partnership with portfolio leadership.
  • Align contract, conflicts, matter, and knowledge management platforms across the ecosystem.
  • Monitor legal technology, agentic AI, and automation trends; ensure initiatives support risk, compliance, and commercial priorities.
  • Collaborate across Legal, Technology, Data, business, architecture, risk, security, and compliance; resolve cross-team escalations.

Role qualifications

  • Deep technical legal-technology expertise and experience leading cross-functional transformation.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate strategic ambitions into measurable outcomes.
  • Experience guiding complex legal platforms and leading technical specialists; manage external vendor relationships where relevant.
