This is a hands-off leadership role requiring technical depth to guide engineers, challenge decisions and resolve escalations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a global team of system administrators, network engineers and cloud specialists; set objectives and manage performance.
- Allocate resources across daily operations and project delivery, balancing service priorities with planned improvements.
- Own infrastructure availability, performance and operational resilience, ensuring monitoring and alerting identify issues early.
- Coordinate major incidents, root cause reviews and corrective actions to reduce repeat failures.
- Deliver infrastructure projects from planning through operational handover, including refreshes, upgrades and cloud migrations.
- Guide technical decisions and escalations across servers, networks, datacentres, cloud and communications platforms.
- Own infrastructure budgets, forecasts and expenditure; identify savings while maintaining service quality.
- Manage technology suppliers, service performance, licensing and contract negotiations.
- Establish and test disaster recovery, backup and restoration arrangements, including Microsoft 365.
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks and configuration records; work with the Director of Infrastructure on the wider roadmap and security requirements.
Requirements
