Generative AI Specialist / AI & ML Developer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize generative AI solutions using GPT, Claude, Gemini, or Azure OpenAI, including prompting, fine-tuning, and RAG.
• Implement agentic LLM architectures, structured JSON/GeoJSON outputs, reasoning methods, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Build prompt libraries, evaluation frameworks, and QA pipelines for defense-grade AI content.
• Integrate AI through documented APIs with DoD platforms including Maven, C2IE, and IRIS.
• Research multimodal models, synthetic data, and AI-assisted information-operations analysis.
• Turn operational requirements into deployable solutions; support tabletop exercises and platform demonstrations.
• Apply responsible AI practices, bias checks, validation, hallucination mitigation, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Support MVP milestones, technology readiness progression, and ROI measurement.
• Document prompting techniques, model configurations, and workflows that may constitute IP or trade secrets.

Minimum qualifications

• Related technical bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant experience; four additional years may substitute for the degree.
• At least three years in software development or data science, including two or more years in generative AI, LLMs, or NLP.
• Hands-on foundation-model experience with prompting, few-shot learning, fine-tuning, and API integration.
• Strong Python and experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, and OpenAI or Anthropic APIs.
• RAG and vector database experience; AWS or Azure cloud and production AI/ML deployment experience.
• Understanding of AI safety, hallucination mitigation, bias reduction, and prompt-injection protection.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and DevSecOps.
• U.S. citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain final TS/SCI with Poly clearance; current valid U.S. passport.

Preferred qualifications and technologies

• Preferred: master's degree; agentic AI, multi-agent workflows, LLM tool use, or advanced fine-tuning such as RLHF, DPO, LoRA, or QLoRA.
• Preferred: multimodal AI, defense or intelligence applications, operational platforms, information operations, or COCOM work.
• Preferred: MLOps, A/B testing, LLM evaluation, synthetic data, simulation, Monte Carlo methods, geospatial formats, and visualization.
• Preferred: relevant cloud or AI certifications and communication skills for technical-to-nontechnical translation and customer demonstrations.
• Listed technologies include GPT, Claude, Gemini, Azure OpenAI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, Python, vector databases, AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs, GeoJSON, Plotly, D3.js, IRIS, Maven, C2IE, OMEGA, and FedRAMP IL2–4.

Compensation

• Target salary range is $135,000–$216,000; eligible positions may also include overtime, shift differential, or discretionary bonus.
