Specialist And Consultant General Surgeon

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with general surgical conditions
• Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures in accordance with evidence-based clinical practices
• Conduct minimally invasive (laparoscopic) procedures where qualified and applicable
• Assess patients pre-operatively, obtain informed consent, and develop individualized treatment plans
• Provide comprehensive post-operative care and monitor patient recovery
• Manage surgical emergencies and trauma cases as required
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate medical records, operative notes, and clinical documentation
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality meetings, and continuing medical education (CME)
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, infection control protocols, and Oman Ministry of Health regulations
• Participate in on-call duties and emergency coverage as per hospital requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
• MS, DNB, FRCS, Arab Board, or equivalent postgraduate qualification in General Surgery
• Eligibility for or possession of a valid Oman Ministry of Health (MoH) license
• Minimum 5-8 years of post-specialization experience in a recognized hospital
• Experience in laparoscopic surgery is highly preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, surgical expertise, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
