Role Overview
We are hiring a
GCC Political Relations & Regional Affairs Analyst
to support advisory and research work focused on political relations, regional diplomacy, policy coordination, economic cooperation, and institutional dynamics across the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Based in Doha, the Analyst will contribute to structured political briefs, regional relations assessments, stakeholder maps, policy notes, and strategic intelligence materials for public institutions, infrastructure stakeholders, development partners, and private-sector actors. The work will frequently intersect with Qatar’s regional positioning, GCC policy coordination, Gulf economic diplomacy, energy security, infrastructure investment, trade corridors, sovereign investment priorities, regional security dynamics, and the wider geopolitical environment linking the Gulf, Red Sea, Levant, Central Asia, Africa, and Asia.
This role is designed for candidates who can analyze GCC political relations not only through official statements or diplomatic events, but as a practical system shaped by national strategies, institutional incentives, economic diversification plans, energy interests, security concerns, investment priorities, and regional alignments.
You will play a key role in translating political and diplomatic developments into
clear strategic and operational insights
—helping stakeholders understand how GCC relations, policy shifts, institutional priorities, and regional cooperation frameworks affect infrastructure planning, trade systems, investment conditions, and cross-border economic strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and analyze political, diplomatic, and policy developments across the GCC, with attention to regional cooperation, national strategies, and institutional priorities
- Produce structured
- GCC relations briefs, political risk notes, stakeholder maps, country-positioning assessments, and policy analysis reports
- Monitor Qatar’s relations with GCC states and wider regional partners, including developments affecting trade, infrastructure, energy, logistics, investment, and economic diplomacy
- Analyze how regional political dynamics affect trade corridors, energy routes, infrastructure cooperation, sovereign investment, industrial policy, and market access
- Conduct stakeholder mapping across ministries, diplomatic institutions, sovereign funds, regulators, development banks, infrastructure entities, business councils, and regional organizations
- Assess political and institutional risks affecting cross-border projects, public-sector cooperation, regional investment flows, strategic partnerships, and policy coordination
- Support research on GCC economic diversification plans, connectivity initiatives, regional integration, energy diplomacy, security cooperation, and strategic development programs
- Contribute to advisory materials on stakeholder engagement, political positioning, partnership development, regional risk exposure, and institutional outreach
- Prepare concise rapid-response notes on diplomatic developments, policy announcements, regional tensions, summits, agreements, or institutional shifts
- Support dashboards and monitoring frameworks for regional policy developments, diplomatic stakeholder intelligence, political risk tracking, and strategic engagement planning
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Gulf Studies, Public Policy, Political Economy, International Trade, Security Studies, Law, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in political analysis, regional affairs, diplomatic research, geopolitical risk, government relations, policy advisory, or institutional research
- Strong understanding of GCC political systems, regional diplomacy, public-sector institutions, economic diversification strategies, and political economy analysis
- Familiarity with Qatar’s regional role, GCC coordination mechanisms, energy diplomacy, infrastructure investment, sovereign wealth activity, or Gulf security dynamics is strongly preferred
- Experience working with consultancies, think tanks, government institutions, embassies, international organizations, DFIs, trade associations, or donor-funded programs is a plus
- Excellent analytical writing skills with the ability to translate political and diplomatic complexity into clear practical recommendations
- Fluency in English is required
