The Network Support Engineer is responsible for
analyzing, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluating existing network systems
, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, servers, and other data communications networks to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption.
Responsibilities
- Strong Smarthands network device rack, stack, patch, troubleshoot and decommission skills.
- Ability to identify network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, APs) and understand their basic role and functions.
- Knowledge and experience with providing console access to devices, using PuTTY to connect to devices, working on a telephonic bridge with remote engineers, sharing console/PuTTY access via screen sharing software.
- Familiar with rack elevations, enterprise campus MDF and IDF closets and datacentre environments.
- Experience with installs and refresh of routers, switches and APs.
- Patch cabling, power cord connections, closet cable dressing.
- Reliable and punctual in an SLA driven schedule.
- Able to follow instructions from senior engineers both verbal and written.
- Accurate and reliable in following site visit procedures, communication requirements and protocols.
- Professional demeanour, strong communication and client facing skills.
- A positive attitude.
- Ability to work autonomously without direct supervision and solve unexpected problems (technical or non-technical) on the fly.
- Driven to deliver quality work.
Qualifications
- Work Experience: More than 24 months
- Language: English (written and verbal)
- Sound knowledge of:

- HP/Dell/IBM
- Juniper
- Bluecoat
- Radware
- Checkpoint, etc.

- Network and server hardware and components
- IT qualifications may include:
• PC\Laptop OEM Maintenance Certification
- CompTIA A+ Certification and/or CCNA skills
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification in desktop area
- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification
