Job Purpose
The Functional Associate serves as the vital link between business, operations, and IT teams for payments, cards, and digital channels (web and mobile apps). This role supports product managers throughout the product lifecycle by translating business needs into actionable requirements, optimizing requirement turnaround time, expediting stakeholder reviews and approvals, and ensuring seamless collaboration across internal teams, including Technology, Fraud & Risk, Operations, and Product Management. The focus is on enabling efficient delivery and continuous improvement of payment and card products that enhance operational performance and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the functional liaison bridging business, operations, and IT for payment, card, and digital channel products.
- Support product managers throughout the end-to-end lifecycle of payment and card products, from requirement gathering to implementation and ongoing enhancement.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, use cases, process flows, and functional specifications aligned to business goals.
- Convert business requirements into clear, structured functional requirements for technical and implementation teams.
- Host requirement clarification sessions, workshops, and stakeholder discussions to ensure alignment on project scope, priorities, and outcomes.
- Accelerate capture, validation, and processing of business requirements for timely project execution.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to expedite reviews, approvals, and sign-offs for functional changes and product enhancements.
- Liaise closely with Technology, Fraud & Risk, Operations, and Product Management teams to ensure smooth delivery and efficient issue resolution.
- Support testing activities including requirement walkthroughs, UAT support, defect clarification, and validation of delivered features.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation such as BRDs, FSDs, process documents, trackers, approval records, and feedback logs.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements across payment, card, and digital channel journeys to drive operational excellence and enhance customer experience.
- Support change management and governance by ensuring requirements, decisions, and approvals are properly documented and communicated.
Key Skills, required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Certifications in business analysis, agile delivery, or product management are a plus.
- Training in process mapping, requirements documentation, or software delivery methodologies is an advantage.
- 3–5 years of experience in business analysis, functional analysis, product support, or similar roles within banking, payments, cards, or fintech.
- Proven expertise in gathering/documenting business requirements and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong hands-on experience with business requirements gathering, functional documentation (BRDs, FSDs, user stories), and process mapping.
- In-depth knowledge of payments and cards products, and understanding of digital channels (web/mobile apps) is preferred.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, UAT support, and defect clarification.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to accelerate approval management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate business needs into structured requirements.
