Develop and support applications as a generalist on a cross-functional software development team.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services and frontend applications for the PSD Citywide Enterprise system.
- Collaborate with software developers and support staff to take product ideas from concept to release.
- Write readable, robust code; document code and its methodology; design user interfaces and experiences.
- Use AI development tools and AI-native practices throughout the software lifecycle while maintaining quality, security, and maintainability.
- Test experimental technologies, review code, and develop systems in an Agile environment.
- Address functional, performance, security, quality, operational, and monitoring needs; participate in SDLC phases, scrums, and sprints.
- Maintain data integrity and quality assurance, implement features, resolve defects, and meet delivery commitments.
- Help maintain user manuals and guidelines, recommend and perform software improvements and upgrades.
- Work with Business Analysts on requirements and integrated web application design and development.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related degree or diploma.
- 3–10 years of full-stack development experience.
- Web development experience with JavaScript, PHP, SQL, AngularJS, Symfony, CSS/Sass, Node.js, Git, Linux, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong SQL skills, including creating and modifying complex stored procedures and functions.
- Demonstrated experience using AI-powered development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
- Strong understanding of prompt engineering, AI agent workflows, and human–AI collaboration.
- Experience building and scaling user-focused web applications and secure, scalable web services integrated with other technologies.
- Experience with legacy applications and source code repositories such as Git.
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving, communication, and knowledge-transfer skills; commitment to quality software development.
