Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable software used across SpaceX and create applications that improve company operations.
• Build prototypes to validate design concepts and assess technical constraints.
• Own software engineering and product development, investigate user problems, and create efficient solutions.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code-review discussions.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a scientific discipline, or 2+ years of professional software-building experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least 1 year of full-stack development experience.

Preferred skills and experience

• Programming experience in Python, C#/.NET, Go, Scala, Java, or a similar object-oriented language; single-page application experience is preferred.
• Version control, CI/CD, system design, testing, build, deployment, monitoring, and performance-profiling experience are preferred.
• Build systems, package managers, UNIX-like operating systems, and infrastructure tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet are preferred.
• Streaming systems, Docker, Kubernetes, Angular or React, and PostgreSQL or SQL Server experience are preferred.

Schedule

• Extended hours or weekends may be requested depending on launch cadence.

Workplace

• The role requires onsite work; remote and hybrid arrangements will not be considered.

Compensation

• The listed pay ranges are $125,000–$165,000 for Level 1 and $145,000–$200,000 for Level 2; no salary cadence is specified.
• Actual level and base salary depend on job-related skills, education, and experience.
