Role Overview

Capital One seeks full-stack software engineers to build solutions that meet regulatory needs and support a major technology transformation.

The role works in a fast-paced, collaborative, iterative delivery environment.

What You Will Do

Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions.
Use Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools.
Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and set design, development, and operational standards.
Partner with architects on service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
Refactor systems to reduce technical debt and enhance performance.
Evaluate emerging tools and practices to influence technology strategy.
Mentor engineering community members and participate in internal and external technology communities.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
At least 4 years of software engineering experience, excluding internship experience.
At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
7+ years coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.
3+ years with databases and database management systems.
3+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
Experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, APIs, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, Git-based version control, and cloud troubleshooting.
Experience with AI coding tools, observability, mentoring, large-scale initiatives, coding standards, and design patterns.

Compensation

New York annual salary range: $215,200 to $245,600.
The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses or long-term incentives.
