Role Overview
THIS IS AN ONSITE POSITION BASED IN AUSTIN, TEXAS.
NO REMOTE OR HYBRID AVAILABILITY FOR THIS POSITION
VVater is looking for a Full Stack Engineer and Web Lead who lives in code, lives in AI, and owns our entire web presence end-to-end.
This is a rare hybrid role.
On one side, you build real software: we develop our own systems in-house, including MIDNIGHT, our custom-built ERP, and a growing stack of internal tools and applications.
On the other side, you own and run VVater's websites, our SEO, and our visibility in the new world of AI-powered search.
We need someone who can architect and ship custom software fast, and who can just as easily manage a WordPress site, drive it up the search rankings, and make sure VVater shows up when someone asks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Google's AI Overviews about water treatment.
You use modern AI and large language models as a core part of how you work.
You can vibe-code a working solution in under a minute, then harden it into production.
You are a true Swiss Army knife: engineer, web developer, and modern search strategist in one.
You do not wait for a spec to start building, and you do not reach for a bloated vendor product when you can build something better yourself.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience (what you have built matters more than where you studied)
- Proven full stack development experience, with real applications you have designed, built, and shipped
- Strong command of front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks) and of backend, database, and API development
- Proven WordPress development experience, including themes, plugins, and custom work
- Extensive hands-on experience building with AI tools and large language models (Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, or equivalents), with the ability to vibe-code working solutions in minutes
- Proven experience implementing and managing SEO strategies, with a strong grasp of technical SEO
- Understanding of AI-powered and generative search optimization (GEO / AEO / LLM SEO), or a demonstrated ability to master it fast
- Fluency with a modern programming language such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, and comfort learning whatever a problem requires
- Familiarity with SEO and analytics tools (SEMRush, Google Analytics, Moz, Meltwater, or similar)
- Strong database skills (SQL and/or NoSQL)
- Experience with responsive and adaptive design
- A builder's bias for action; you ship fast and iterate rather than waiting for perfect specs
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to own and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or extending ERP, CRM, CPQ, or other business-critical internal systems
- Strong UX/UI design sensibility; ability to build interfaces that look and feel great
- Experience modernizing or migrating legacy platforms (for example, moving off WordPress to a custom stack)
- Demonstrated results driving brand visibility in AI answer engines and generative search
- Knowledge of PPC campaign management
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and CI/CD workflows
- A portfolio, GitHub, or real examples of applications, websites, tools, or SEO results you have personally delivered
