Duties and responsibilities

• Analyze and investigate suspected fraud activity and transaction patterns through alerts, and monitor resolution quality.
• Conduct due diligence using internal and third-party databases and work with branch staff to calibrate expected account activity.
• Coordinate with bank teams, branches, and external financial institutions to recover fraudulent funds when appropriate.
• Serve as a bank liaison to law enforcement regarding fraud attempts and wellness visits when needed.
• Enhance fraud alerts on new accounts that meet risk criteria.
• Document investigation findings in case management and report them to the Bank’s Fraud Committee.
• Report fraud attempts, trends, and results to committees and management.
• Contribute to fraud prevention procedures and controls by monitoring incidents and emerging trends.
• Recommend account restrictions, transaction holds, account closures, customer notifications, or other loss-mitigation measures.
• Coordinate urgent protective action with management and relevant departments.
• Assist with CTR reporting and other BSA department duties as needed.
• Escalate fraud attempts to Deposit Operations before return and dispute deadlines expire.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of banking laws and regulations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to research complex situations, exercise independent judgment, manage multiple tasks, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
• Candidates without BSA experience may be considered if they have other bank operations or relevant banking experience.
