About This Role

Job Purpose:

Lead and coordinate all training activities for seagoing staff to ensure a highly competent and safety-conscious fleet. This role is responsible for overseeing the Fleet Personnel Department’s training framework, ensuring full compliance with international maritime regulations (STCW) and HSEQ standards. By collaborating with Vessel Groups, the Training Sr Superintendent bridges skill gaps, manages the Cadet development pipeline, and optimizes training budgets to achieve operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Training Planning

  • Define and identify training needs in close coordination with Vessel Groups and the HSEQ Department.
  • Ensure full alignment with external regulatory requirements (STCW, Flag State) for all sea-going staff.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of annual Training Budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Training Administration

  • Manage the end-to-end implementation of training plans and schedules for sea-going personnel.
  • Oversee all logistical requirements, including securing qualified trainers and reputable training providers.
  • Monitor attendance, maintain training records, and conduct post-training evaluations to measure effectiveness.

Safety & Compliance Training

  • Manage sea-going staff training on critical areas: Safety, Compliance, Risk Management, and Incident Management.
  • Ensure all training activities are strictly compliant with international maritime laws and company safety management systems (SMS).

Cadet Development Program

  • Serve as the Overall In-charge of the Cadet training and development programs.
  • Monitor Cadet progress on board and ensures they meet the required competencies for promotion to Junior Officer ranks.

Quality Assurance of Providers

  • Regularly evaluate and audit External Training Providers to ensure high-quality standards.
  • Ensure that the curriculum provided by third parties aligns with the specific technical needs of the fleet.

Crew Conferences & Engagement

  • Plan, oversee, and supervise the Training Assistant in the end-to-end organization of Crew Conferences.
  • Utilize conferences as a platform for safety seminars, policy updates, and feedback collection from the fleet.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Marine Transportation, Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 3 years seafaring experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Commercial Shipping/Marine Field is preferred.
