About the Role

Join an early-stage legal technology team building AI-powered software for legal workflows. As a founding product engineer, you will work closely with attorneys and AI engineers to create core product capabilities and help establish the team's engineering practices.

What You'll Do

Build and own full-stack features, from data models and backend systems to interfaces used by attorneys and clients.

Turn legal workflows and review playbooks into reliable, production-grade software in collaboration with attorneys and AI engineers.

Make pragmatic architecture and tooling decisions that support rapid development and future growth.

Write maintainable code, prioritize reliability, and take features through production deployment.

Help shape engineering culture, standards, and hiring as the team grows.

What We're Looking For

One to three years of experience building and shipping production software, ideally at an early-stage company or as a founder.

Full-stack development skills, including TypeScript and React, a modern backend stack, and relational databases.

Hands-on experience building with AI or large language models, professionally or through personal projects.

Experience owning features end to end, building data models for complex workflows, and making sound engineering trade-offs under time constraints.

Strong product judgment, communication skills, and comfort working with ambiguity in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment.

Legal technology, contract management, document processing, or experience collaborating with attorneys or other domain experts is beneficial.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $140,000 to $180,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

  • On-site in San Francisco, California. This role requires working in person six days per week. Candidates must already be based in San Francisco or be willing to relocate without employer-funded relocation.
