Job Description

Responsibilities

• Assist school in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and to contribute to the achievement of relevant targets as set out in the school’s improvement plan and self-evaluation form.
• Comply with regulations pertaining to health and safety at work legislation and adhere to school policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulations.
• Comply with the school’s Performance Management Policy ensuring challenging annual targets are set and to fulfil the role of performance management reviewer if directed to do so by the principal.
• Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding and health and safety together with all training deemed appropriate for the purpose of school improvement or performance management.
• Always comply with the school’s staff dress code including the wearing of photo ID / lanyard.
• Always comply with the school’s computer Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
• Attend all staff briefings.
• Sign out and sign in at relevant school reception if off site at any point during the normal working day.
• Maintain food equipment and stock to ensure they are fit for purpose.
• Prepare resources/equipment for lessons, under direction of the Head of Food and Nutrition.
• Perform basic administration duties for the department.
• Liaise with the leadership in the department to ensure support is matched to need.
• Maintain the learning environment in the department.
• Contribute to school ECA provision.
• To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be determined by the leadership commensurate with pay and conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Level 2 certificate in Food Hygiene and Safety (or similar).
• Experience in relevant discipline or related qualification.
• First aid qualification desirable.

Minimum Experience

• Experience of working in a school or with young people.
• Experience of working in the Food Technology or Food industry.
• Have knowledge of Health & Safety regulations/procedures.
• Experience of effective budgeting when purchasing equipment and materials.

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to work under pressure in a busy food lab environment, to manage workload and to meet deadlines.
• Willingness to “go the extra mile” and embrace new Ideas.
• Excellent working knowledge of all aspects of food hygiene and food lab health & safety.
• Knowledge of ingredients, preparation, stock control, cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
• Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background.
• A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life.
• A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
