What You’ll Do

  • Lead the planning and execution of daily and special event menus that meet individual dietary needs
  • Foster strong relationships with residents and families to enhance satisfaction and resolve concerns
  • Supervise and develop food services staff, including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, optimize purchasing, and monitor food and labour costs
  • Ensure compliance with Chartwell’s policies and relevant provincial and health regulations
  • Collaborate with suppliers and corporate partners to maintain high standards of food service
  • Serve as a key member of the management team, contributing to strategic decisions and operational success
  • Rotate as the Manager on Duty for weekend coverage as needed

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience in food service (retirement, healthcare, or hospitality)
  • At least one year of front-of-house and customer service experience
  • Post-secondary diploma in Food & Beverage Management or equivalent; chef qualifications and Food Service Supervisor certification preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Highly organized with strong time management abilities
  • Experience with budgeting, purchasing, and scheduling
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, special diets, and local suppliers is an asset
  • Familiarity with the local community and supplier networks is beneficial
  • Valid Driver’s License, or reliable means of transportation
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
  • Must be prepared to respond to emergency situations
  • Some local travel may be required
  • Comfort using AI and other digital platform systems and tools to support daily work
  • Clear Criminal Background Check, VSS and TB Test where required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Food & Beverage Management or equivalent; chef qualifications and Food Service Supervisor certification preferred
