payments, digital regulation, and financial services innovation.
The Dubai office is a core hub for the firm’s Middle East practice, advising on complex cross‑border mandates across FinTech, Payments, TMT, Corporate, Funds, and Financial Regulation.
With accelerating demand from payments institutions, digital asset platforms, embedded finance providers, and sovereign‑backed FinTech ventures, the firm is seeking to appoint a senior solicitor and will consider Senior Associates, Counsel or Partner level candidates with expertise in Payments & Financial Services Regulation to expand its market‑leading offering in the UAE and wider Gulf.
The Opportunity
- The firm is experiencing significant growth in mandates involving:
- Payments regulation (stored value, merchant acquiring, cross‑border remittances, EMI/PSP licensing, card scheme compliance)
- Digital assets & crypto (VASP licensing, exchange/MTF approvals, custody, tokenisation, DeFi structures)
- *Regulatory licensing & approvals*
- across ADGM/FSRA, VARA, CBUAE, DFSA, SAMA, and other regional regulators
- FinTech product structuring, outsourcing, cloud, data, AML/CTF, operational compliance
- Cross‑border regulatory strategy between the Middle East, UK/EU, India, and Southeast Asia
- To support this growth, the firm is seeking a Partner who can build and lead a Payments & Digital
- Assets regulatory practice aligned with its global FinTech and TMT strengths.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and grow the firm’s Payments, FinTech & Digital Assets regulatory practice in the Middle East.
Advise on licensing and regulatory approvals for PSPs, EMIs, digital asset exchanges, custodians, lending/embedded finance platforms, and venture funds.
Act as primary liaison with ADGM FSRA, VARA, CBUAE, DFSA, SAMA, and other regulators.
Advise on regulatory strategy, product rollout, AML frameworks, governance, and ongoing compliance.
Support colleagues on FinTech M&A, venture capital, strategic partnerships, and commercial arrangements.
Collaborate with the firm’s global FinTech and TMT teams on EU/UK regulatory mandates, including payments innovation, crypto, regtech, and digital transformation.
Work with sovereign wealth funds, high‑growth FinTechs, digital asset platforms, and institutional investors expanding into the region.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- A financial services regulatory specialist with deep experience in payments, digital assets, and licensing.
- Strong track record securing regulatory approvals (e.g., MTF, custody, PSP, EMI, lending, VASP licences).
- Experience engaging with ADGM/FSRA, VARA, CBUAE, DFSA, SAMA, or equivalent regulators.
- Ability to originate and deliver complex cross‑border mandates.
- Corporate/commercial capability to support FinTech transactions and strategic partnerships.
- International outlook and ability to work seamlessly with global teams.
- Existing client relationships in FinTech, payments, digital assets, or financial services will be highly valued.
