About ABYAT

ABYAT is the largest retail store in the Middle East, spanning 22,000 square meters and offering over 22,000 home improvement products.

Established in September 2005, ABYAT is expanding beyond Kuwait into Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.

Role

The Financial Controller oversees all financial operations within a vertical across the company.

Responsibilities include managing accounting functions, preparing financial statements, managing P&L, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role develops financial strategies, conducts risk assessments, and provides insights to support business decisions.

The Financial Controller supervises the finance team, coordinates budgeting and forecasting, and maintains internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, monthly/quarterly reports, and year-end financials.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process and work with departments to forecast revenues, costs, and capital expenditures; monitor performance against budget.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to policies and regulations.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow planning, monitor cash flow trends, and optimize working capital.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Audit and Compliance: Coordinate with internal and external auditors and ensure timely filing of financial statements and tax compliance.
  • Strategic Financial Planning: Support senior management with financial insights, risk analysis, and identification of cost savings or revenue opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CMA is a must.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management or accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
