Role overview
Reports to the Corporate Controller and owns assigned accounting processes and financial statement accounts.
Supports financial close, reconciliations, reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational decisions.
Accounting and reporting
- Perform month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities and prepare and post journal entries.
- Maintain reconciliations, investigate differences, and prepare financial reporting schedules and analyses.
- Maintain capital asset records and reconcile subledger balances to the general ledger.
- Support project accounting, revenue recognition, SR&ED documentation, and cash reporting.
Cost accounting and planning
- Assist with standard costing and cost updates; analyze material, labour, and overhead variances.
- Support inventory accounting, valuation, reserves, counts, product cost, gross margin, and profitability analyses.
- Assist with budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, management reporting, and capital expenditure evaluation.
Controls and improvement
- Support controls, audit schedules, ERP activities, system testing, data validation, and process improvement.
- Maintain process documentation, support Finance colleagues, protect confidential information, and comply with policies and controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- At least three years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience, including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- ERP and Microsoft Excel experience; advanced Excel skills and strong financial reporting knowledge.
- CPA designation or active CPA progression is preferred.
- Manufacturing, cost, inventory, project accounting, budgeting, or forecasting experience is preferred.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365, OneStream, Power BI, or comparable systems experience is an asset.
- Strong accuracy, organization, communication, prioritization, and collaboration skills.
