Role overview
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Analyst supports operations through monthly reporting and accounting cycles.
The role provides centralized day-to-day support and completes tasks assigned by the Controller.
Responsibilities
- Analyze project financials and interpret results; ensure revenue recognition follows applicable accounting standards.
- Compare actual results with forecasts and budgets through monthly variance analysis and identify causes.
- Prepare monthly and ad hoc management reports.
- Work with the billing team to assess project financial health and support invoice preparation and/or approval.
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close.
- Review and approve expense claims and make or request corrections.
- Complete other related tasks assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Strong analytical skills; collaborative, team-oriented communication and interpersonal abilities; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Assets
- Knowledge of Vantage Point – Deltek ERP software is an asset.
- Accounting experience in a service-based industry is an asset.
