Role overview

Records to collect and review

• Review audited financial statements, trial balances, and management accounts for the relevant years.
• Collect fixed asset register entries, purchase invoices, shipping and import records, and asset valuations or values declared to insurers.
• Collect the site contract, ramp-up schedules, price lists, invoices, occupancy records, and receipts.
• Collect operating cost records, including payroll, supplies, security, and subcontractors.
• Collect banking and financing records, including facility letters, cash-margin and security requirements, loan note documents, and interest and fee statements.
• Collect broker payment records, premium payments, recoveries or salvage, professional-fee invoices, and records of staff time spent on the claim.

Document control and reconciliation

• Build a secure, structured data room in the format agreed with the forensic accountants.
• Maintain a master index recording document reference, date, author, description, source, and related loss head.
• Keep documents in their original native format with metadata intact.
• Prepare schedules linking figures in existing loss schedules to source documents, bank statements, and audited accounts.
• Maintain logs of missing, incomplete, or inconsistent records and of questions, answers, and documents provided to the forensic accountants.

Qualifications and requirements

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification and at least four years of experience.
• Audit or financial control background, with familiarity with fixed asset registers, ledgers, bank reconciliations, and audited accounts.
• Strong Excel skills and a methodical approach to indexing large volumes of documents.
• Meticulous record-keeping and absolute discretion.
