About Airwallex

Airwallex provides financial infrastructure and services for businesses and financial products.

The company was founded in Melbourne in 2015 and operates across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

It is co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,300 people across 27 offices.

About the role

Own finance for Airwallex’s UAE entity and act as the primary finance contact with the CBUAE.

Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with prudential and regulatory obligations.

Join the EMEA Finance team and work with Compliance, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and local management.

Build and mature the UAE operating model and finance reporting cadence.

What you’ll do

  • Act as the designated CBUAE contact for financial and prudential reporting, returns, information requests, and supervisory meetings.
  • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory returns, coordinating interpretation and the regulatory calendar with Compliance.
  • Monitor regulatory capital, liquidity, and client-fund safeguarding; flag risks and recommend action.
  • Own monthly close and financial controls, including journal entries, balance-sheet reconciliations, and P&L reviews.
  • Prepare financial performance, capital, and cash commentary for local board packs and management reporting.
  • Lead the annual IFRS statutory audit and liaise with auditors and advisors.
  • Oversee UAE Corporate Tax and VAT compliance with the Tax team and external advisors.
  • Support product launches by ensuring accurate reporting structures and regulatory submissions.
  • Improve and automate UAE finance processes and collaborate on Controllership projects.
  • Responsibilities may develop over time.

What you bring

  • Professional finance or accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, CFA, or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of finance experience, including senior-level finance function experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS, regulatory capital, and UAE payment-service-provider prudential reporting.
  • Direct financial-regulator engagement experience; CBUAE experience is ideal.
  • Financial controlling experience and a track record of building finance capabilities in a growing organization.
  • Big Four experience is advantageous.
  • Strong communication with regulators, auditors, boards, and stakeholders; able to work independently in ambiguity.

Regulatory requirements

  • The role is regulated and the successful candidate must meet CBUAE Fit and Proper criteria; any offer is subject to regulatory approval.
  • Candidates must have a clean regulatory and criminal record, with no past disciplinary action, dismissal for cause, or adverse financial-regulator findings.
  • Candidates must have no history of fraud, dishonesty, or material misrepresentation and must be financially sound, without undischarged bankruptcy, insolvency proceedings, or outstanding unsatisfied judgments.
  • Candidates must be resident in the UAE, dedicate sufficient time, and maintain meaningful on-the-ground presence.
  • Other directorships or roles must be disclosed so the CBUAE can assess availability.
  • The CBUAE will conduct background checks and may request references from previous regulators.
